Dr. Michael has 30 years of experience solving practical problems that arise in the . He began his professional career when he earned his doctorate in statistical science. Shortly thereafter he founded a consulting firm that provided statistical consulting services, primarily in the area of support.
His growing interest in personnel issues led Dr. Michael back to where he earned a second doctorate, in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. This branch of psychology focuses on organizations and the workplace; it addresses issues such as validity, reliability, testing, and statistical considerations when analyzing observational data. The type of data encountered in litigation cases is almost always observational, as opposed to experimental data, or the kinds of hypothetical data often found in college textbooks.
Dr. Michael understands the advantages of working closely with counsel: learning the background, industry, and allegations; assisting with discovery, direct, cross, etc. When working on behalf of defendants, interaction with defendant’s personnel often provides valuable information about decision processes. In like fashion, Dr. Michael prefers being close to the data, beginning with the raw data: exploring it, processing it, and conducting the analysis using statistical software.
Dr. Michael's experience in litigation support extends to a variety of content areas and legal settings. He has served as a forensic expert on more than 100 cases and has testified in over 30 such cases. His multidisciplinary skills, coupled with his diverse workplace and litigation experience, rounds out his qualifications as a forensic expert in cases requiring statistical analysis, especially those involving personnel data.
